Charley is a contemporary art publication series edited by Maurizio Cattelan, Massimiliano Gioni and Ali Subotnick. A do-it-yourself magazine, Charley is an inclusive publication relying on assimilation, rather than on selection : Charley is a machine for redistribution, a mechanism for spreading and exploiting information, rumors, and communication. Anthropophagische Poesie ist eine Sprachkunst, die vorhandenes Text- und Bildmaterial verschlingt und anders und neu wieder hervorbringt. Die Ausstellung ist nicht zuletzt eine Hommage an den nordhessischen Seefahrer und Autor Hans Staden (1525-1576), der in Brasilien fast vom Volk der Tupinambá verspeist wurde. Die Zürcher Gruppe and-or mit René Bauer, Beat Suter und Mirjam Weder präsentiert eine Online-Anwendung, mit der sich Tweets durch Buchstaben anfressen lassen, um neue Texte auszuspucken. Jürgen O. Olbrich verkehrt ins Negative, was ihn in jungen Jahren mit Text und Bild gut genährt und belehrt hat. Gregor Weichbrodt schreibt Texte, die Texte aus anderen Texten schreiben. Carola Ruf hat buchstäblich Bücher durchbohrt und die Bohrkerne in Reagenzglasröhren gefüllt. Steffi Jünglingpräsentiert in der Tradition der Schluckbildchen neue Varianten der Esszettel. Und Dagmara Kraus, die am 3. März mit dem Förderpreis Komische Literatur ausgezeichnet wird, zeigt einen Ikonenklon.

You can’t really fully understand the work of Cosima von Bonin without looking at her collaboration with other artists. Even when invited to produce a solo exhibition, von Bonin rarely shows up without the input of her friends, either through music, lyrical fragments, fashion accessories, cameo performances, or, and, or… And let’s be clear, the musicians get the von Bonins thing.

Die Ausstellung im Kunsttempel zeigt eine Momentaufnahme internationaler Sprachkunst. Mit einer post-digitalen Perspektive werden Arbeiten von gut 60 Künstlerinnen und Künstlern aus 17 Ländern präsentiert, die Kunst mit Sprache entwickeln und alle in den letzten zwei Jahrzehnten schon einmal im Kunsttempel ausgestellt haben. Zur Ausstellung erscheint ein Katalog im Kasseler Verlag Jenior.
Kunst mit Sprache ist im Zeitalter von Digitalisierung, Big Data und Social Media besonders gefordert. Individueller Sprachgebrauch kann nicht mehr hinter die Spannung zwischen maschinellem und menschlichem Handeln zurück, das betrifft selbst den Einsatz von Stimme oder Handschrift. Denken und Handeln sind für jeden einzelnen und in allen Gesellschaftsbereichen von Sprache geprägt. Sprachkunst macht diese Entwicklung und Umstände hervorragend anschaulich und reflektiert sie.
